Dear Friends of LOEP:

Your mailbox is probably full of letters like this at this time of year.  It’s because you are the folks who make a difference in the lives of others.  We hope you will give this greeting a good read and consider how important you have been this year to children who have never met you but pray for you every day.

There are milestones and good news to report this year:

* Orphan School Graduate

Children’s Relief Ministry (CRM) orphanage is very proud of the first graduate to go all the way from first grade to high school graduation at CRM.  Hawa J. Boakai and her sister Margaret were found by humanitarian relief workers in a refugee camp and referred to CRM.  Hawa started first grade at CRM orphan school and from the beginning she took on a nurturing role with the other children, according to Sam Kargbo, CRM director.  As one of the older orphans at CRM, Hawa eventually took on responsibility for accompanying younger ones to the clinic for medical attention.  “Her strongest desire is to be a nurse and care for the children here at her CRM home,” Sam said.   She graduated this year and expects to go to nursing school to return to CRM as a trained health care professional.

* LOEP Teachers Sponsored

Your donations to LOEP assured teachers and their families of a secure paycheck and kept them in the classroom every school day for a full year.

*LOEP Classroom kits

You sent mobile classrooms to orphan schools and kindergarten start-up kits to community kindergartners in rural Liberia

*LOEP Teacher Training Team to Liberia

LOEP has been asked to work with teachers at Lott Carey Mission School in Liberia, using LOEP mobile classrooms to develop a learner-centered curriculum.  The LOEP teacher trainers will go in February, 2009 using private funds.

Even though we don’t know them individually by name, there are several hundred orphans in Liberia who know you.  The children in LOEP partner orphan schools depend on your support for a teacher in their class every day and know that your gifts to LOEP can, some days, make the difference between having one meal or two.

The success of children like Hawa is possible because of your gifts and donations to LOEP.

Thanks to you, women in rural Liberia can look forward to getting LOEP kindergarten start-up kits to start schools in their communities and teachers will be trained to meet learning needs of students who are the future of a peaceful Liberia.

Wishing you a Blessed Holiday and Best Wishes for the New Year!
