The Liberia Orphan Education Project (LOEP) has responded to the utterly compelling situation of Liberia’s orphans with a commitment to partner with three orphanages. LOEP activities are modest, specifically-focused projects serving educational and humanitarian needs of children in two orphanages in Monrovia, Liberia.
LOEP has also responded to humanitarian needs of children, babies and mothers served by the Red Cross in Liberia. Hospital donations of discarded-but-usable medical supplies and baby formula are collected by LOEP for shipment to the Red Cross in Liberia. LOEP volunteers collect the donations, pack them and ship them to Liberia where a LOEP volunteer connected with the U. S. Embassy there oversees distribution to the Red Cross for use in maternity clinics for mothers and babies and in the Red Cross orphanage. Shipments are sent in barrels four times a year and every barrel includes at least 100 pounds of rice, dried beans and powdered milk. Shipments to Red Cross in Liberia are made 3-4 times a year,
